Another KitchenAid model is on sale, the KitchenAid Professional 600 Series Onyx Black mixer.  If you are a heavy mixer user who needs a more room and strength for larger projects, you want the KitchenAid 600. Over the last few years it has become the favorite over the Artisan, with the price only being marginally higher for the added power and space. The KitchenAid Pro Series has a motor that takes on tougher tasks, like with bread, enabling the user to churn out large amounts of dough at a faster rate. For the KitchenAid Pro Series Stand Mixers, you will see a $50 mail in rebate that results in prices near $300, great value for a Pro.

Either of these products look nice in your kitchen.  Like all KitchenAid products you can feel the quality of the product / motor by how much the base of it weighs. Still made in the USA thankfully. Also worth noting, the KitchenAid mixer attachment packs with items like a dough hook, juicer, flat beater, slicer and more.

Some stores may be advertising a KitchenAid Mixer for $199 but do not be fooled, as it’s usually the 4.5 quart KitchenAid with much less power and room than the Artisan. The KitchenAid KFP750OB is the best value for a processor that is close to high end, but around 100$ is actually affordable to any cook.  Then you consider KitchenAid’s great service and warranty, along with the fact that this is a heavy, well built machine and you can rest assured this will last a lifetime.  Having a processor like this allows so much of the cooking process to be automated especially the time consuming preparatory work.

One common mistake with the KitchenAid KFP750 Processor is people think they can use it as a blender and fill it up with liquids.  A small amount of liquids are doable especially if there is some bulk food inside at the same time to absorb some of the liquid, but yes this will cause a mess if you fill it up with liquids and blend.

Despite this power one will notice how quiet this product is.  It is just convenient to have a processor like this with the attachments (smaller / bigger spare bowls, etc) to handle any kind of job.  Overall this is one of our most popular products, sells dozens each day and is becoming a mainstay in kitchen’s all over the US.  Buy KitchenAid KFP750OB Food Processor on eBay for under 100$.

Another favorite that I have been using at the parent’s house (got it for them for Christmas) is the Cuisinart DFP-14BCN 14-Cup Stainless Steel Food Processor which was on sale for 200$ the list price at the time.  It is normally listed at stores for upwards of 400$ but on Amazon it is 199$ and some of the processors on eBay are in the 150$ range, a savings of 250$ or more.  So you’d be hard pressed to find a better deal on a food processor than that.

Obviously with the 14 cups you are dealing with a processor even more daunting in size than the KitchenAid KFP 12 cup processor.  It’s been useful for when I go to their house for family arrangements and bring lots of bulk vegetables.  This strong and huge 14 cup processor makes short work of them so people aren’t hand cutting food all day.  Also interesting is that even though we use the KitchenAid Stand Mixer for pizza / bread dough, the folks use this Cuisinart 14 cup processor for it and it has done the task as well.

For general use at home, a KitchenAid KSB560 or KitchenAid Professional KPCB348PNP makes the most sense.  With the multiple blender speeds you can start off slow and ease into the faster speeds like Puree to ensure no icecubes are left or fruit chunks.  KitchenAid blades are deadly sharp and as you can see are designed to throw the food up like a vortex with the blade facing upwards, making sure every part is blended.  The power of the motor is evidenced by house heavy the machine is.  I’ve found in the past that cheaper blenders are always guilty of either not blending all the solid stuff all the way or it taking several minutes of blender use to do so.

With these type of power and performance you want it working this way all the time.  Fortunately it’s easy to maintain by cleaning it right after making your concoction; just fill it halfway up with water and some dish soap, and then put it on puree it to wash the entire blender.  KitchenAid is friendly and provides great service should you have questions, and are very up front about taking care of their customers should something happen.

My brother eats so much toast it’s crazy. Naturally, I got him a new toaster for Christmas. This was necessary because he likes to toast artisan, bagels, english muffins and other types of thick bread, and a lot of smaller / cheaper toasters would break down or not be able to toast the bread.
