I too had the plastic gear box problem, and KitchenAid did a fine job of assuaging my fears regarding the long term use of my prized KitchenAid 600 Nickel Pearl Stand Mixer.

Top of the line mixer. Bought the KitchenAid 600 series stand mixer in Onyx color about 6 years ago. Only thing that came up in that time span is when the plastic gearbox needed to be replaced with the metal gearbox but KitchenAid service was great on the phone and they handle the shipping well. Was choosing between the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer and the KitchenAid Professional Mixer but this Professional seems like the choice with the added power for just a slight price hike.

Bought this off this site a few weeks ago and just started using this stand mixer!!! The kid’s love it!!!

Ok so I got the Caviar Gloss and it looks great in my kitchen. This is big but I use it all the time so I don’t care!! Plus this mixer stays on the counter and doesn’t move thanks to the grip. Very strong mixer that puts my old Cuisinart to shame. Very efficient machine and so glad that I can make my own bread!!

Sorry for not seeing this comment earlier Michael, but the $50 rebate passed the end of January I believe.

There was then a time with no rebate through February, but now until March 28th 2011 there is a $40 KitchenAid Rebate on these Professional Stand Mixers. This puts the White KitchenAid Pro Mixer at $248, a tremendous deal.

Print the Rebate form out – look closely for the link on the page before you add the Mixer to your cart.

Hey Tawnya…Amazon has prices that fluctuate often unfortunately. The 299$ deal was around Christmas and afterwards the 600 series mixers went up back around the 350$ range, which considering the value from this still is a pretty good deal.

That said, a few colors of the KitchenAid Professional 600 series 6 quart mixer are on sale for 48 hours (this weekend). The KitchenAid Pro 600 series has the Licorice / Pearl Metallic / Nickel Pearl mixers on sale for 319$. Since you can get FREE SHIPPING this makes it quite a deal, only 20$ more than it was during Christmas.
