No surprise that ice cream makers have been one of the hottest products being sold right now. Making your own ice cream has never been more efficient both in terms of price and time involved. We now have the luxury of controlling what ingredients we use in making the ice cream.
The Cuisinart Ice-20 Automatic 1.5 Quart Ice Cream Maker has nearly 1150 five-star reviews at Amazon, as it provides simplicity in making ice cream and at 1.5 quarts is one of the more accessible ice cream makers around. It is normally 90$ but has been on sale, with the white Cuisinart 1-1/2 Quart Automatic Ice Cream Maker being $43 and the red Cuisinart 1-1/2 Quart Automatic Ice Cream Maker being $49. There is also the new product, Cuisinart Ice-21 Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream Sorbet Maker. This is an upgraded version and is actually just $49 right now with free shipping.
Until recently making ice cream at home took a lot longer. It was not an easy process, and ice cream makers of yore were very loud. Nothing messy about clean-up with this Cuisinart model, and figuring out how to use it is easy – just add ingredients and your ice cream is made in 20-30 minutes. One extremely useful tip after using these models for a while, is to keep your ice cream bowls in the freezer at all times (and use your ingredients when they are as cool as possible). This helps create the creamiest ice cream – if you do not freeze the bowl, it will be more liquidy. Having the bowl in the freezer for around 12 hours should suffice. However, the aforementioned strategy means you can’t make one batch after another. Thus, you may want a second ice cream bowl for your Ice-20 – if so, save 25% on your Additional Cuisinart 1.5 Quart Ice 20 Freezer Bowl.
After a few uses you will be able to tinker with the ingredients to your liking, to create your ideal ice cream base. Eggs and cans of condensed / evaporated / regular milk are a good start. Vanilla and almond extract are two essentials for adding flavor into the mixture. Of course, you can add caramel, oreos, fruit, cookie dough, etc. Amazon suggests The Best Ice Cream Maker Cookbook Ever or Ben and Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream Dessert Book to fine tune your ice cream recipes. Can’t go wrong with either book, plus you’ll save extra if you get the book with the Ice Cream Maker and / or the extra Cuisinart ice cream bowl.
Wow, that is a good deal. I just got myself the red Cuisinart!!!
Ok I found the White Ice Cream Maker but how do I get the FREE shipping at Amazon??????
Simple.

Just add the Ice Cream Maker in your cart, and go to check out. When you get the chance to choose shipping, choose free which is like 7 days or so. I think anything over 20$ can be free shipping on Amazon.
Hello,
Thanks for the review. I have one question though. Do the other Cuisinart Ice Cream models have the same quality as this one? I want a Cuisinart Ice Cream maker but maybe a tad bigger than this, let me know.
Thanks
Thanks for posting, I really liked reading your latest post. I think you should post more often, you obviously have natural ability for blogging!
Hey Bill R
As you might guess, Cuisinart has big ice cream makers too. In fact the Cuisinart Ice 30 BC Icecream Maker is probably the best value out of any of them. For the people who get annoyed by having to wait to make more ice cream (or having to buy a second ice cream bowl), the Ice 30 at least provides more ice cream each session. So unless you are serving for many people, the Ice30 BC will suffice.
If you really want to get crazy, Cuisinart has the Ice 50 BC Supreme Ice Cream Maker. Normally 400$ it is 250$ now with free shipping. This is a compressor machine, meaning you don’t need to freeze bowls – you can just run the machine one batch after the other, making ice cream.
mmmm freshly made ice cream. So tasty, I got the Ben + Jerry book too.
Hey, been experimenting with Lime Ice Cream and this concoction now tastes like Key Lime pie! You should try it..
2 cups of milk
2 egg yolks
1-1.5 cups of sugar
1/3-1/2 cup of Lime juice (freshly squeezed if possible, usually takes me ~10 limes)
1 cup of cream
Grate some of the lime peels and put them in.
You don’t have to use Eggs, I like to though. Helps this ice cream become thicker. This is really good. Like the review above says, if you have an Ice Cream Maker, make sure you store the bowl in the freezer before-hand, otherwise the ice cream may be prone to running.
Wow, thanks for posting that. Today was a really nice warm day (for up here), so I decided to give the recipe a try. Quality taste from that smooth sorbet, our family ate it up quick.
Winter is leaving I can’t wait to use this more too!! Made Raspberry Ice Cream with the Cuisinart Maker today. Delicious, I’ve been making it for a while with a similar base to the last recipe but strain the raspberry’s to reduce the seeds that get in the ice cream.
Some recipes say use a jell type freezer the red one says it’s a jell type but the 30 BC doesn’t say does anyone know about this. I would like to get one for my husband for Father’s day so I need to hurry. Thanks!
New difference in this Ice-21 model of Cuisinart’s is that it takes 25% less time. I find this to be about true, having had both of them and now it takes me 15-20 minutes instead of closer to 25.
Hiya, I’m really glad I’ve found this info. Can’t wait to try mine.
I love this thing…I use up so much vanilla extract making vanilla ice cream LOL!
Oh, it’s great. Pushing me through this humid summer.
Great machine. Been using a lot of Almond milk in my recipes, great flavor amplifies the vanilla.
Thank you, I will buy the Cuisinart Ice-21 new model ice cream maker. Sounds more efficient and it’s cheaper.
I got the Cuisinart Ice-21 also, so many wonderful recipes to use with this machine. Have to say the key ingredient for my ice cream is the Kefir.
Love this thing so much I can appreciate just plain vanilla ice cream and it doesn’t get old.
Tara I recently got the Cuisinart Ice-21 Ice Cream Maker myself, saw that it is a bit faster and the turquoise color is awesome.
Buying an extra bowl for the Cuisinart Ice 21 Ice Cream Maker. Love making custard but I need that extra bowl for my bigger batches so I can freeze both bowls and be ready to go.
Never thought I’d find an ice cream maker that worked better than the Cuisinart Ice 20, but I too have to say that the Cuisinart Ice 21 does a great job of doing what the Ice-20 does but faster / more efficient.
Cuisin art models are the best I might say. My ice cream maker never failed me.
@Janice – I’ll try to make your recipe…
