Finally quality espresso makers have become reasonable to produce and sell. For a semi-automatic Espresso Machine it is hard to beat the peripherals on the Gaggia 35005 Carezza Espresso Machine. It is about 1 / 4th the cost of the expensive espresso makers but essentially has the same interior parts, just a plastic exterior instead of metal. Your espressos and lattes from the Gaggia 35005 will be right on par with the 1000$ espresso models, it’s been that way for years with ours.

Or signup for eBay, which has the same Gaggia Carezza Espresso models for 200-300$ depending on the auction and the steel Gaggia Espresso’s as well for around 400-500$.

Like any espresso, a quality burr grinder will make your espresso shots even better. You just don’t know until you have one, but when you do you will need your coffee ground well every time. They are around 80-120$ though the 5 star Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder is on sale at Amazon for 89$ plus free shipping (normally 120$ burr grinders). This is a terrific grinder as it’s 5 star rating is comprised of a whopping 300 customer reviews! Look for Capresso Burr Grinders for a little cheaper on eBay but you will have to factor in shipping cost.

A lot of coffee makers, even the better ones, rush the process. Just like slow cooking, a slow brew allows for a cleaner, more efficient brewing. The KitchenAid KPCMO50NP Pro Line does a fantastic job of spraying the water evenly which allows the filtration / extraction process to flourish. One will also notice the perfect 200 degrees at which it brews coffee. The charcoal water filter as usual provides great tasting coffee and you will see no difference with tap water.

With use of the KitchenAid KPCMO50NP or any great coffee maker, you should consider a burr line grinder. This allows you to maximize the potential of the coffee beans and makes the brewing even more smooth. KitchenAid Pro Line Burr Grinder is a top of the line grinder and you can find it under 100$ on eBay. The list price for this on Amazon is 300$!! Even at Amazon there are deals for 179$ or less for a Burr grinder pro line.

If the KitchenAid KPES100NP Pro Line Espresso Maker is more your thing, you can save 400$ on this at amazon. Normally it is 900$ but it is on sale for 499$. If you watch eBay auctions though you can buy KitchenAid Espresso Maker KPES100NP for 400$ or less! That’s over 600 dollars off the list for the espresso machine.

There’s something to be said about how each coffeemaker’s coffee tastes. After buying Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-cup Coffeemaker I was convinced the charcoal water filter is what gives this coffee it’s fine taste. You are reminded when to decalcify it, and gold tone filters are just more convenient (though you can still use paper filters). Amazon still has this stainless steel coffeemaker on sale for 73$ (50% off the normal price). Also, until January 2010 this coffee maker has a 10$ Cuisinart rebate form that you can send out afterwards to make the price just 63$ new + shipped!

If you already have the Cuisinart DCC-1200, you can buy Cuisinart GTF Gold Tone Filters. They’re 6 bucks, even less if you just buy the Gold Tone Filters with the Cuisinart DCC 1200 Coffeemaker.

The other tempting product was the Cuisinart DC-2000 Coffee on demand. It sounded like you could ration your coffee better with the on demand features, keeping it hotter when you want it. One of the newer Cuisinart coffeemakers is the Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind and Brew Coffeemaker. This was made because of the demand for burr grinders being accompanied with a good programmable coffeemaker. It’s a useful feature for utilizing fresh coffee beans whenever needed.

Braun still puts out solid coffee makers as well. The Braun KF590 Digital Programmable Coffeemaker
has a plethora of solid reviews and the thing you’ll notice about Braun coffeemakers is the temperature. It is hot, and it stays hot for hours. The worst complaint about a coffeemaker is that the coffee does not keep it’s temperature – fortunately this is not an issue with the splendid coffeemakers above.
